The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation (USA) has been supporting for over 10 years our strategy for developing volunteerism in Romania, through operational grants covering batches of 2 years.
Our strategy for the 2011-2012 period had as objectives the continuation of our efforts to:
- Develop the infrastructure for volunteerism in Romania
- Training and consultancy
- Development of resources (publications, pilot programs, mechanisms)
- Providing documented information
- Advocacy for enhancing the quality of volunteering programs
Through the projects, services and activities during the above mentioned period, Pro Vobis contributed to enhancing the capacity of:
(1) VIOs (volunteer-involving organizations) in Romania to perform professionally in managing a diversity of volunteers, their daily operations, and the multi-sector partnerships they develop.
(2) Practitioners in volunteering to perform professionally in delivering quality services to communities, organizations, volunteers, and beneficiaries they work with and for.
(3) Companies to increase their recognition of volunteering acquired skills and knowledge, their support for community volunteering initiatives, and their commitment for partnership with VIOs.
(4) Public institutions at local level to acknowledge the potential and take action to support volunteering as a resource for the local community
(5) Mass-media to cover volunteering correctly and constantly.
